7:29 Nurburgring lap by Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 with Manthey Racing upgrades including suspension, brakes, and tires

Let's put this time in context. Porsche themselves runs the Cayman GT4 around the ring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds. That is a factory time with factory drivers and factory resources. Manthey Racing improves on that time by 11 seconds without even touching the motor.

They are not doing this with more power. If they add power they can drop this time further but Manthey revises the suspension and brakes as well as changes the wheels and tires.

Obviously the Pirelli Trofeo R's make an appreciable difference but Manthey Racing also adds in a roll cage. That adds weight but they make up for it with a carbon fiber hood and race seats.

To put this laptime in other words a Carrera GT did a 7:28.71 time in a test by EVO and Porsche themselves got a 7:32 out of the 997 GT2 model. This is an incredible lap for the power and just a great example of superb mid-engine handling.

Watch it eat up the Nurburgring corners below.

    It's absolutely amazing.

Yet this still hold this platform back... it drives me insane.

At least there is some tuning available, a full exhaust + ecu tune would probably squeeze out a decent gain on this motor.

Given their performances in the nurburgring 24hr races im not surprised at all. Top notch work from those guys. Also...what's that thing he keeps moving around between corners...it looks familiar!

I see they upgraded the LSD, I wonder if they offer alternative final drives.
Long gearing seems to be the only complaint I've read about this car.
