        RaceChip posted some S58 tuning data which is much appreciated as we all eagerly anticipate the introduction of the BMW G80 M3. The S58 drivetrain of the G80 M3 is previewed essentially in the F97 X3M and F98 XM SUV's and we are already seeing solid tuning numbers. Check out the dyno and acceleration data from RaceChip below.


        Here is the overlay stock and tuned from the MAHA:


        The tuned curves mirror the factory power delivery pretty much identically. There just is more torque everywhere.

        Now, the MAHA is pretty conservative but go by the delta. The increase is quite nice. Dynojet figures from the S58 are much, much higher.

        Let's not play the 'how this dyno reads' game and instead look at before and after acceleration figures.

        100-200 kph tuned 9.26:


        A nice improvement.


        Is it preferable to the BMS JB4 though?

          I assume Race Chip is a piggyback? Based on the fact that the power curve is almost identical to stock, it seems like they just added a static amount of boost througout the rev range. Simple but effective, apparently.

          Yep, there it is.

          I’m still amazed these piggybacks add so much boost on stock timing without scattering parts everywhere.

          Aren’t these dragy numbers disappointing? 0-200kmp/h in almost 14 seconds? Didn’t Bms do 10.8 in 1/4 mile with 125+ trap speed, which is 200km/ph+. BMS used an e40 blend but I expect that race chip used 102 eu octane for their testing.

          IND clocked a 11.8 -116.3mile stock.

          Yeah, let’s be honest, there are more expensive piggybacks out there from companies that have a high-end appeal, but BMS has them all beat. They have spent so much time doing R&D on their own cars, as well as customer beta testing which has lead to a very refined and feature packed product. Even back when BMS was building plastic boxes with no bluetooth comms, they developed external wastegate control for some random guy that built a single turbo N54 in his driveway. It only took Terry 2 or 3 firmware revisions over the course of 2 days to dial in what probably took Vishnu weeks to develop for their single turbo logic.

          It already happend in Germany. 6XXHP/8XXNM doing stable 7,3 100-200Km/h.
