    • Someone is swapping an N54 into an E46 M3 - Insane or ingenious?

The E46 M3 already comes with arguably the greatest modern era BMW I6 ever produced. Sorry N54 fans, you are not going to top the factory iron block, 8k rpm redline, high flowing head, or volumetric efficiency. It's why the S54 can do things like this.

So why in the world would someone swap an N54 into the E46 M3? Because they can apparently.

A group of guys in Spain with the help of Kaiten Sports is making it happen.

There is a lot of work involved especially with the wiring but they have it running with the help of an SCS Delta standalone ECU.

Still more work to be done but certainly something different and more interesting than an LS swap.

Very interesting... not sure how I feel about it but interesting none the less. Does the n54 use the valvetronic system?

Not everyone likes na engines even if they do rev high.

Im not sure why you always knock the n54 engine in all your comments especially considering this is your forum and the n54 section.

I think its cool to put n54 in all the old bmws. New tech in old cars is always cool.

No. The first turbo BMW I6 to have it was the N55 I think.

I'm not knocking it by stating the S54 is better and already comes in the E46 M3.

This is different and I highlighted that and also put it on the front page so I'm giving it exposure.

I don't see this an improvement though but certainly interesting.
