    Stage 2 / 3 update

Hey guys, hope you all had a great Christmas. Im supposed to be on vacation but I'm spending this time getting stage 3 done. Dp's are now done and fully tacked. Installed in car and with subframe all clears...Click here to enlargeNeed to do charge pipes and water pipe / pump and will be ready to fire it. Before anyone says anything, no that is not the final orientation for the rear compressor housing. As for stage 2, got an email today. All parts I was waiting for EXCEPT flappers are shipping tomorrow. Take about 2-3 days to get them, then its wait on the flappers and assemble. So things are looking good. As always I appreciate your patience. Have a safe and blessed New Year.

Edit: Don't mind the multiple tacks all over the front DP. My fabricator is on vacation so I just fabbed it myself. My tacks are no where near as nice as his from the rear DP. But hey I got it done...Click here to enlarge

Looks very promising. This is very exciting.

Do you think you'll change that first turn in the front DP? In the 3rd pic, the transition between the first and second sections looks like it could be smoother.

What do think the final rear compressor housing orientation will be?

I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered before, but I am wondering if both Stage 2 and Stage 3 will require new downpipes?

Stage 2 stock DP's or after market will work fine. Stage 3 will come with custom dp's to fit.

It has to be that way to clear the wastegate arm and not interfere with the frame on the other side. Its very tight. My fabricator might be able to smooth it out a bit, But it honestly looks worse than it is. From the inside its a smooth transition. I am most likely having DP's mandrel bent instead of fabricated and welded if possible. Going to explore this after we get some miles on the first prototype set and get some numbers for everyone. Final compressor housing will point somewhere near 12 oclock and will go up towards the valve cover and then 90 forward, meet the other pipe then Y into the intercooler. Thats what I will be working on tomorrow.

Thank you for the clarification! Good work! My stockers FINALLY started rattling a bit. I have a 2008 and 33K miles and up to last month, I've had absolutely no idea how rattling waste gates sounded like. The turbos still make boost and they seem like they have a lot of life left in them. I just want to keep my options open for when the day comes and I'll need new turbos.

Hopefully by then, we will have proper tuning for various aftermarket twins and not just RB's, if you want to call those tunes proper...

how come the front turbo DP goes to the side rather than underneath/next to the rear DP?.. just looks like it makes clearance even tighter?

does the rear turbo DP get in the way too much?

what was the main obstruction on the DP side of things though? were they so much wider it simply wan't going to fit together?

it does look amazing though, getting more and more exciting

pity RHD's are limited to such small turbos, i wonder how the RB's and 2j's go big twins... must be high mounted.... really excited to see how the stage 2's can perform though Click here to enlarge

BMW mounts there motors at a slight tilt towards the passenger side. That's why space is limited. The xJZ and RBxx line are mounted straight up and down.
