i think most of the issues people may have had in the past is with journal bearing and/or the older ones. this is dual bb and price wise there was no skimping out. we had a lot of options on the table and the 6466 was picked based on potential down the road, size, fitment and spool characteristics.

Did you look into the Borg Warners or forced performance? The Garrett GTX and forced performance HTA are some of the fastest spooling single scroll turbos money can buy. Comp has some triple ball bearing turbos that are very nice too

As far as I know Garrett doesn't make a GTX3586r. It's a GTX3582r or GTX35r as its better known as. FP takes that housing and upgrades the wheel with theirs and it becomes a 3586r gaining around 100 HP but losing 500 rpm in spool. Everything is a trade off but the turbo is the same housing so you can switch back and forth if you chose to.

If people are able to start putting together custom single turbo kits already it definitely will hurt the Vishnu/FFtec effort. I hope this comes together quickly and without issue.

Most problems with precision turbos are from feeding the turbo from a high pressure source. Precision doesn't recommend restrictors like other turbo manufactures do, which is ok if you know your oil feed won't have a lot of pressure. I think most people don't think about it, run no restrictor, feed there turbo 80+psi of oil pressure, and wonder why it went bad.

In terms of issues @Sticky, i'm sure there will be some as well as limitations but at the least they'll be well known and well defined and the community will be eager to help with advice, at least i hope so

Most of the fastest drag mustangs run Precision turbos. I guess it helps that I know the owners and have people who have worked with them for many years. I will too whenever I have the balls to do a build.

Precision turbos just seem very popular on big power builds.

Precision turbos must be rebuilt at a much shorter span than Garrett. I've seen precision a fail abnormally fast. Drag racers that rebuild their engine every week don't have issues slapping new turbos on every week. I'm just saying I would rather stick with a turbo that's going to last longer.

Reason stated from my tuner. "They are very cheap turbos to buy and are very easy to rebuild or customize/upgrade with another CHRA and compressor housing vise versa." For me after having an EFR, I doubt I'd go any other route. Just depends on your budget and what you want with your car. I really think he choose a pretty good turbo and I'm really curious to his power. It Will have a lot of flow and pretty quick spool. In the end just getting a bigger exhaust housing and turbine is no big deal for another 100-200whp.
