FBO+Meth 135 vs Evo VIII FP Red and a 335xi vs FBO Wrx

Just a quick run between two of my friends. Sorry for the $#@!ty video.

    135 is on G5 (not iso), FBO+Meth
Evo has an FP Red on a conservative 22psi.

also another video of a 335xi vs a fbo cobb tuned wrx

Yeah, his clutch wouldn't hold more than like 23psi at this time. So he couldn't turn it up :/

Understandable. My stock clutch was slipping when I introduced it to e85 and 28psi from the stock turbo lol.

I was expecting it to be faster :/ I had to hit my brakes. I ran that wrx later that night and put about 10 cars on him. It was pretty embarassing considering he was talking some trash for months saying how his car was faster.

Nice run but low quality vid. Easy to see the 135 take it though.

That's unfortunate. I had a conservative daily driver tune on my FP Red Evo, and I even ran it at 25 psi on pump. I still to this day wish I could somehow race my old Evo and see how it goes with the 135.

BMWs gearing is ususally favored for races like this. Then there is the RWD and all AWD issue... what kind of power are these cars making? FP reds are supposed to make like 600 whp, right?

I know for a fact my 335i would have beaten my Evo. I'm still working on the Evo though. If I can't make a 10sec 1/4mi pass in this car ill move on to something else. Prob a GT500.

I think if i had an EVO, it would be a second car with a built motor. 600 WHP at least, probably FP black.

The 135 probably has like 430whp and the evo probably around like 410. You can get that much power out of a red if you have a built motor.

You can easily make 410 on an FP Red, but probably not on 22 psi, unless its a high reading dyno. On a mustang dyno with 25psi, my Evo made 390. It was a very hot day and would have made more with cooler weather, but still. No built motor needed for 410whp in an Evo though.

Yeah I know, that part of my post was referring to the previous quote where someone said Reds make 600.

Who is tuning your car, and what other engine mods? I made 410 awhp on the stock Evo 8 turbo at around 25psi. That was on pump + meth. I was one of the first to hit 400+ on stock turbo.

To me its crazy to see the large gap between some Evos and others with similar hardware. For example, there is an Evo posted some time ago making well over 800awhp on a gt3586r turbo. And then I see guys barely breaking 400whp with the same. I know that scenario is likely strong motor build vs stock with cams, but I;ve seen some pushing 30 psi just over 500whp on built motor on that turbo. That powerplant is just not going to make up that difference.

Going by his power figures, I'd say he is most likely going by dynojet figures for both cars.

Pure Tuning in Toledo did my tuning for the Red tune. It was stock motor, full bolt ons, GSC S1 cams, and obviously the Red turbo. My guess is a happy dyno in your case, and a heart breaker in my case honestly. My car on full bolt ons + cams made about 310whp on a IX turbo at 23psi, so I was happy picking up 75whp from the Red with the mild tune. I know that a stock IX will make about 215-220 whp on the dyno I used, just for reference. Mind you, this was on straight 93 pump, so obviously there was a lot more to be had with meth or E85. It's really kind of a moot point to compare numbers across different not only different dynos, but if yours are dynojet numbers, then across dyno platforms as well though. The gains from stock vs. modded on the same dyno are the only way to really compare like that. Keep in mind too, that a Red at 25psi vs. a Red at 30psi+ is a very different animal as well, and I would guess on a cold day with 5psi+ more, and better cams with my setup, I would have been seeing high 400whp as well. Don't want to thread jack this too much though.

Not really a happy dyno, it was a mustang AWD and notorious for breaking hearts. For reference, my evo dyno'd 198 whp stock on that same dyno. I was so pissed that day, but my magic worked to wake the car up.

I made 360 whp without meth, and broke 400whp with.

Sticky, Why did my edit post button leave the first post?

Lots can be done with a tune, my old Evo was not what you would call "very conservative" in the least, but I can see how a more conservative tune would be in the same range on the red. That turbo behaves differently (as most do) when you let her really sing. Honestly nowadays, Id have the car with the red run conservative over the stock turbo pushing a bunch of hot air.

Of course I say that, all the while have plans to see what the slightly dated gt35r is capable of pushing its limits on the s52.
