na the engine is great. A ton of other very expensive issues. I have seen things like egear pumps etc go out with price tags in the 10-20k range

Exactly, I like the long gearing.

Hmm maybe back to E-Gear then lol. Don't get why that stupid pump is so expensive.

Well they depreciate like nobody's business. You can get early build Gallardo's with less than 30k for GTR money. Problem is it's still a Lambo at the end of the day, so if something breaks, prepare to start crying

    right on the money.....
I feel since VW/Audi took over Lamborghini & the Gallardo was their 1st project (and the exact same engine is in the R8 V10) that it's a fairly reliable car. Now I understand that the minute you strap a BIG HP turbo kit onto a car that wasn't designed for it, you're introducing problems, but are their really any big "flaws" that exists (besides breaking internals with an over aggressive tune)?

A Stage 1 UGR Lambo is in the same HP area as max power, stock motor 997s and GTRs and those are fairly bulletproof platforms

Have you seen how strong the stock motor is?

No I know. The stock motor/compression/internals are good for reliable power up to 10 psi, and IIRC the rods are the 1st thing that go if you crank up the boost from there. Incredible when you realize their top tier kits are pushing 35 psi Click here to enlarge

Keep the stock motor and just add forged rods... not a bad idea.

What's so hard about changing the oil?
Absolutely nothing if you have the oil change tool. If you don't, it gets a bit tricky; but it's far from rocket science. People think like they should pull the engine out or something to do the regular maintenance. All you need is a car lift or a big car jack (or find yourself a big pot hole in the street), oil filter and fresh oil of course. Dealers here ask 500-750 for this, you can do it with 150.

I'm very familiar on the changes, I don't want the new/shorter gearing especially when turbo.

No big deal then, I can just get the tool.

I think it makes most sense to move to the Gallardo platform next, what do you think?

For you, The R8 is better i think. You are not gonna baby the car, and a car built by sensible Germans gives you more peace of mind than a Gallardo which is built by inconsiderate Italians. And since it's an Audi not a Lambo, it has cheaper parts.

    It's German engineering in either.

I don't like the R8 styling as much as the Gallardo. Also, pricing wise, I would prefer to have the V10 in the Gallardo for the price of the V8 in the R8. Make sense?

I also like the look of Gallardo more. And it's more raw compared to V10 R8. But the fit and finish, build quality and reliability of R8 compared to Gallardo is a whole lot better, specially early model Gallardos that have some issues. My neighbour has a 04 model, and honestly i can't remember all the things he said has replaced so far.

Understandable but for the price Gallardo V10 over R8 V8 IMO.
