PTF E40 Map - Drag Racing Results

I've been having smoke problems with my car, but it seems to have subsided. Now my LPFP doesn't like E60 so Dzenno tuned me down to E40. Car seemed to be running well so I headed to the track last Friday.

The DA was about 38 Click here to enlarge

I freaking suck balls at launching. Mind you this is with drag radials and a LSD...

I think I need to invest in a line lock kit because my burnout skills are as good as my launching skills.

Looks like you are in the same boat I am in but you have a 6MT which is much tougher to launch. Traps are 3-4 MPH higher than mine were this weekend on the OTS race gas map. Get the launch down and you have serious potential to hit very low 12's. Good luck getting better!

With those traps, you have the potential to hit high 11s. I think I may need to hit up Jake@PTF when he comes down to Tampa.

You seriously need to practice your launches. With runflats and no LSD I am able to cut better 60' times.
Very nice trap speed. With some practice you can easily hit 11's

I am meeting with him while he's here. Take advantage of this if you can!

2.4 with drag radials? It's like you have to be trying to get a bad 60 foot...

Manuals are simply the wrong choice for drag racing on the N54. For driver control and involvement its great but you can't have any real consistency otherwise.

Wasn't a manual the first to break into the 10's on the N54?

I think the point is that while there are exceptions to the rule, the auto will out do the MT at the strip as far as consistency

Hey, great traps @nafoo. Get that 60' down with a line lock and a good solid burnout and you've got 11s in there

Yeah, not sure what the hell Shiv did but he cut the lowest 60' time ever on a 6MT N54. 1.6 or something rediculous. Other than that, the next closest 6MT 1/4mi time is Dzenno @ 11.4?. Trust me, been drag racing this car for a year and a half 100+ passes and it is hard as hell.

I tried short shifting 1st on the 2.4 60' run, but hit 2nd too hard and ended up spinning that entire gear. 12.8 at 118 isn't bad for a 2.4 60' IMO :p

I'm not warming the tires up at all. My burn out lasts a second or two because I suck. Definitely need to practice in a parking lot.

And that same car had a 7200 rpm rev limit and took 50 tries to finally crack 10s. If those same variables were present on a 6AT we may be flirting with 9s provided the transmission holds up.

Bwahaha, thats how I felt when I ran a 13.1@116 with a 2.6 60ft. With some more practice, you will definitely be able to crack high 11's low 12's.

But the fastest N54 is a manual. First to break into the 10's is a manual. So how is it wrong when currently it holds the records?

9's? Come on now don't be absurd get into the 10's with an auto first. If it has all these advantages it should be easier yet it hasn't.

The point obviously is you can be fast with either not like the manual is some huge liability and it certainly can be effective. It just is more driver dependent so it probably would be more accurate for you to state if you are a terrible driver the manual is the wrong choice. The auto is almost idiot proof.

Thanks, I'm going to make it happen. I just need more places to practice other than the track. On another note, my VBOX is spot on with the times/trap. I should just find somewhere to practice more.

Just remember at the strip to start out bogging, then work up on the launches. Try not to get too technical with it. I do the best when i try to cut down the tree. You will get the feel after some more practice

What do you mean by start out bogging? Don't give enough gas and drop the clutch?

Yeah, I know I need to practice my burnouts. I just need to find some spots I can do it without attracting the wrong sort of attention.

Might just do what Dzenno did and get an AR Line Lock Kit.

I'm not a drag racer but I can't see having fun in this car with a AT. I don't want to start a debate, just saying....

Practice makes perfect, props for getting out there! You'll hitting 11's or low 12's next time.

No debate, but the automated gearboxes are faster now -- AT/DCT on BMW, PDK on Porsches, McLaren, Pagani, Lambo, etc etc (but this is nothing a good NLS system can't overcome)
