" It's hard to believe it has been over a decade since Mercedes strapped turbos to its SOHC V12 creating the insanity that is the M275 engine. The idea seemed crazy at the time as the 5.5 liter M275 available in 600 models put out 493 horsepower and an earth moving 590 lb-ft. Mercedes AMG decided to give the entire automotive industry a huge middle finger and show who the king of power output truly was by taking that same motor and increasing displacement to 6.0 liters with more aggressive tuning and boost for 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque.

It was so much power and torque back in 2004 many wondered if AMG had gone too far. The cars featuring the engine (the S65, SL65, and CL65 AMG) were absurdly expensive. The other absurd part about these cars was their depreciation. The CL65 AMG depending on options was a $180,000+ car back then. Today, you can pick up a nice used example in the $30k range. The car was not an investment that is for sure.

What does this money get you? A twin turbo V12 luxury rocket with 528 horsepower and 674 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. A simple ECU tune will bring those numbers up into the low 600's to the wheels for horsepower and close to 800 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. A quality tune will run you a little over a grand.

You can not. You can read stock tunes and tunes based on stock ROMs that have corresponding XDF's defining the binary data accurately. You cannot read an ecu that is locked/encrypted by Cobb. And even if you could you'd need a custom xdf as they have some modified logic in the assembly code. Even if it's minor it would potentially change things. "

On my LS motor from Chevy and EFI live I could put the car on a dyno read my wideband AFR's disable fuel trims and adjust fuel or VE tables and look for it to be pulling timing. Beside any good tuner does most of his tuning driving the car. Dyno is only good for WOT pulls mostly.
Wow, really? I thought APR and GIAC could custom dyno tune to adjust these parameters?

I disagree with you regarding the dyno for tuning. I understand your point regarding load on the street but a good dyno for tuning will not be inertia based. "

i mean to be honest if the interior was handcrafted with all the finest blah blah and came with white gold in the interior as well as 50 bulls' hides and the highest quality toilet paper and blah blah blah then maybe i could appreciate the price

they're trying to meet at the line with the luxury car market and the performance enthusiast market but i don't see any options on the car that wow me on the luxury end and performance wise, well that's pretty much self explanatory "

Dodging what? WTF are you talking about?

I don't freaking care. Rent a track, rent 10 tracks, go nuts. WTF does it bother me? They can bring a billion cars to race. All I care about is videos and promoting my network.

I don't give a flying rat's ass about anything else you have invented in your head.

I don't know who this 'we' is you are speaking for. You aren't a part of anything. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS. "

You did raise an interesting point: boost control. My end game is a single turbo, might it be easier to start there and run my own system for boost control?
Yeah I've heard that, but I'm just not familiar with how it controls it... or honestly much about how the DI functions on our car from an electrical/engineering standpoint... side effect of not really needing to touch it on our cars, just tell the computer the afr and gg. If it controls it and the hpfp (should be easy on that one) that's cool. But anyway, yes going single with a different form of boost control would be much easier. The vacuum actuated gates would take one or two outputs just for them, and then you might be limited with the others... You could sacrifice exhaust vanos probably but I'm unsure what else you might need, since the water pump is also electric and a few other things that will need output.

Biggest hurdles will be- crank sensor, compatible? Cam sensors, compatible? DI, can you use it? The rest I don't see an issue with although you may have to use other sensors and do some custom work (like use a non bmw tb/pedal if it can't be controlled). The things you can't easily custom fab would be the crank/cam stuff. Knock sensors aren't necessary but are nice, you can always use a more premative knock sensor just select based on bore size etc. If NECESSARY, crank/cam sensors/rings can be custom fabricated (press or weld/modify the reluctor ring etc). But if you're not doing most of the work yourself it would be super $$$. Interesting project, I would have loved to try about 7 years ago. "

What the fuck are you babbling about? Seriously? What do you have to do with anything?

What are these fantasy scenarios and assumptions you are coming with? Just sit on the sidelines.

If any of these people are serious about running I have an airstrip good for 1/2 mile+ runs.

Maybe you would prefer if I shut down an interstate to do runs in the middle of the night instead? LOL "
