Wow, simply wow. Here is the first 8 second Audi we know of. This 3.2 turbo six cylinder S3 ran a 8.84@161 1/4 mile in Greece. The car is built and raced by the owner of 0-400 Tune 2 Race which from what we gathered with Google translate offers all kinds of services for performance tuning in Greece. Building the world's fastest Audi sure is a great way to get the name out there. Info on the car is scarce but it has a large turbo pushing 33 psi into the motor and the stock manual gearbox with modified 3rd and 4th gears. ...

Our previous low compression / Precision 71 turbo powerband in the track M3 took nearly 2 seconds to get back to full power after exiting a turn. Even with that issue, the car was still extremely fast because it had enough power to make up for it. Now we have the best of both worlds with instantaneous power all the time. We're running a smaller 6766 turbo with a high compression 9,000rpm rev limit motor and we're running even more power than we used to. Here's a dyno of the car to 9,000rpm and a short clip of it on the street. For comparisons, I overlaid this dyno with the HPF stage 1 powerband on race fuel. ...

We understand why EVO compared these two although the SLS really is in a much higher performance class. On paper it seems close as the Aston with its 6.0 liter V12 has 510 horsepower but it also weighs about 250 pounds more. The SLS used in this comparison has 563 horses plus a quicker shifting dual clutch transmission. We would put our money on the SLS AMG in any performance comparison against the DBS Volante any time. Even one done in the wet as this one was. ...

This is somewhat bittersweet news although we applaud Porsche for wishing not move their brand downscale as everyone else is doing. Porsche executive board member Bernhard Maier stated the car does not fit the brand, "To build a Porsche for 30,000 euros currently doesn't fit our brand. The extraordinary purchase experience is not for free and the entry price is currently covered with the Boxster and in the future by the Macan." ...

This is the same vehicle that previously ran a 9.08@163. Boba Motoring now raised the bar breaking into the 8's with a 8.89@165. This vehicle is a MK2 Golf with 4Motion all wheel drive. Only a 2500 pound curb weight. The engine is a 16 Valve 1.8 liter with a Garrett GTX420R turbo on E85 fuel. Power is around the 920 horse mark at 55 psi fed through a 4-Speed sequential dog box. New World Record for what already was the fastest Golf in the world. Congratulations to Boba-Motoring. ...

Michael Schumacher regained form and silenced critics by claiming a surprise third place podium ahead of the charging RBR of Mark Webber at the Valencia Grand Prix. This is his first podium since the Chinese Grand Prix in 2006. Schumacher started 12th on the grid and made the most of the different strategies, safety car and a collision to claim the spot. He now holds the record for the oldest podium finisher since Jack Brabham in 1970. Nico Rosberg finished 6th in between the Force India Mercedes’ of Nico Hulkenburg and Paul Di Resta. But it was Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso that claimed the win in his home country. Renault’s Kimi Raikkonen took second. This is a first for 3 former Ferrari Champions to be on podium. ...

The new F10 M5 is the current automotive hot topic as a new M5 model often is. Here is a very cool and creative advertisement on the part of BMW Canada. This "Bullet" commercial essentially has the M5 play the role of a bullet that is shot out and goes through various objects at high speed. The slow motion capture as the M5 hits its target is absolutely perfectly done in exceptionally high quality. Definitely worth watching. ...

The CLS63 AMG is an absolutely beautiful car in stock form. Many people out there are modifying them in various ways and for the most part they are taking a great design and making it more aggressive without going overboard. A wrap can be executed in a classy manner as this matte white CLS63 AMG shows. We respect the work that went into this CLS63 AMG by Diamond Black Exteriors but the result simply screams look at me way too loudly. ...

The turbocharger the MKVI Golf R comes with stock is the well known K04 turbo. This turbo accounts for a good portion of the torque and horsepower gains the Golf R gets over the GTI and is capable of over 300 horsepower. For those wanting more however enter APR with the Garrett GTX2867R turbo. APR wanted to add more than the K04 was capable of but they did not want to make a big sacrifice in response and spool. The goal was a streetable turbo upgrade. ...

Here is a comparison many of us have been waiting for, seeing the manual CTS-V go head to head with the new F10 M5 also with a manual transmission. Road and Track picks the M5 in first place and it is difficult to disagree. The M5 is the better car here offering a performance advantage as it should considering it is the car to come to market later. The M5 outlaps the CTS-V by almost 1 and half seconds (1:21.01 to 1:22.44). Handling clearly being in the M5's favor with lap times, skidpad, and slalom numbers all surpassing the CTS-V. ...

As previously reported the Audi R8 is getting a facelift for the next model year. The V8 model in particular is going to benefit with a power boost up to the 450 horsepower range. The V8 R8 is lagging behind competition such as the Carrera S performance wise which interestingly enough seems to be the model targeted as a 991 Carrera S was spotted testing with the updated R8. The V10 will be bumped up somewhere to Gallardo LP560 specs which requires only a software change. The main question remains if the cars will get dual clutch transmission (DSG) options. ...

It was only a matter of time before this happened, the manual will be dead in the M5 after the F10. The manual in the M5 already was eliminated everywhere in the world except in the USA starting with the previous generation E60. The numbers simply do not justify BMW continuing to offer a manual in the M5 as orders with the manual option are declining. BMW M's head of engineering Albert Biermann stated, "Last year, maybe 15-20 percent of our M5s in the U.S. were manuals and maybe this year it will be 15 percent. It's declining. The trouble is that nobody wants it in Europe or anywhere else, so this will be the last time we do it, even for the hard-core U.S. buyers." ...

Just as we expected from the launch of the 991 Club Coupe Porsche has released their 991 Carrera S Powerkit giving a boost of 30 horsepower. This mirrors what Porsche did with the previous generation 997 Carrera S releasing a Club Coupe that led to the X51 performance package option offering more naturally aspirated power before the arrival of the GT3. Pricing has not been announced for the Powerkit but the X51 Powerkit option on the 997 Carrera S cost $17,000. ...

Wheelsboutique usually shows off some very get looking wheel setups. This one is definitely not our cup of tea. We understand wanting to stand out and be different but there is a point where something just becomes to ostentatious and tacky. The R8 is a beautiful and refined luxury sports car. Taking an example in white with black sideblades and completely destroying the color scheme it has going for it with bright orange wheels is not the best way to compliment it. We would expect to see this on a Honda or at some import show featuring cheap JDM cars before we would ever expect it on an R8. ...

We are going to see a lot of these videos in the next few years as E63 and M5 owners tune their cars and fight to be kings of the highway. The M157 has been on the market a little longer and has an advantage in available parts. The E63 in the video here has a Evotech tune, no cats, full exhaust, and modified turbos. The M5 has PP-Performance tune, cat delete, and full exhaust. The E63 makes quick work of it which is no surprise if the turbos have been modified. ...

The new F12/F13 M6 is a beautiful design, no doubt about it. However, an M model is supposed to be about performance and engineering over style. This new M6 cabrio was supposed to be slightly lighter than the previous generation E64 based on the BMW press release stating a 4312 pound weight. Well, Insideline tested it at a staggering 4,495 pounds. This is 122 pounds heavier than what they tested the previous generation M6 convertible at which was not exactly a lightweight itself. ...
