The N62 V8 does not get a lot of love, there are not too many options out there for boosting power output. Well, ESS is developing a positive displacement supercharger kit for the N62. The supercharger chosen is the EVS 1900 from Eaton. This is a roots based supercharger. Why setup? We aren't sure to be honest. A roots setup is much more inefficient than a proper twin screw. It is also not as efficient as a centrifugal. The only centrifugal setup that was supposed to be available was from VF-Engineering but after a claimed $100k investment in the project it seems to have disappeared. Hey, beggars can't be choosers, and a positive displacement blower is going to be a lot of fun on the N62. This means it will be an option for the following vehicles: ...

We have two videos of runs between these two tuned cars which are very evenly matched. The TT-RS is claimed to have 450 hp and the Alpina B3 500 hp. The specs on the B3 are updgraded turbos, downpipe, intercooler, no cats, and PP-P tune. The TT-RS has no cats, aftermarket downpipe, and a PP-P tune as well. ...

Here it is, the new 6 series cab which will officially go on sale in Spring of 2011 in the USA as a 2012 model. You may notice, the car features a soft top and not a retractable hard top. We are not yet sure how this impacts the overall curb weight as this figure has not been released. We are hoping it is much lighter than the previous model but with the F13 being longer and wider, that may be a long shot. Pictured here is the 650i using the familiar N63 twin turbo V8 putting out 400 hp which is routed through an 8 speed gearbox. More details to come shortly. ...

Don't worry, the people in charge at BMW have not completely lost their minds... yet. Somebody just make sure they don't get a hold of these photoshops. Theophilus Chin has created his take on an X3 coupe. Does it work? In our opinion, not really. But with 2 door SUV's starting a new segment craze and how BMW seems to be into pushing into segments they don't need to (5 GT anyone?) don't be surprised to see this. Just expect it to happen with an X4, not with the X3. ...

Who isn't making a body kit for the X6 these days? Hartge came out with their standard kit some time ago but here is their take on the widebody. Overall, it is pretty nicely done but the fenders and rear exhaust are questionable. The car rides on the classic Hartge styled rims in 22 inch form. Various tunes are available for the motors ranging from the diesels to the gasoline variants. Bring your checkbook though, this full package on an xDrive35d runs almost 30,000 euros... ouch. ...

We had not heard or seen anything from Kelleners in a while. They are known in Europe for their BMW tuning offering camshafts and tunes for various BMW models. We were pleasantly surprised to see them now getting in on the body kit and wheel market as this 5 series shows that made its debut at Essen shows. The wheels are lightweight 19's and the front bumper has integrated LED's. The rear diffuser integrates a nice looking quad exhaust. The tune boosts hp to 367 - pretty mild by BimmerBoost N54 tuning standards. Overall, this is one the nicer aftermarket 5 series packages we have seen thus far. ...

Yellowssm took his HPF Stage 2 M3 to the strip and put up some respectable numbers. It is good to see more Stage 2's getting out there especially to confirm our earlier reports regarding inflated Stage 2 HPF trap speeds. The car is a 6 speed manual and ran leaded race fuel on Mickey Thompson 265/40/18 drag radials. What is interesting is on stock internals the E46 M3 and E92 M3 are very comparable. This car obviously is 10 second capable, just take a look at the 60 foots and the room for improvement. Congrats to yellowssm for getting out there and putting up some nice data! ...

During the construction of IND’s Blue Max project car, we had the pleasure of installing Ericsson’s carbon fiber front door panels. It was a treat just to see this extremely rare part in person, as there are less than a handful of sets worldwide! Unfortunately, the panels were quite difficult to install, and took over 30 hours to install with a perfect factory fit and finish! There were no provisions for mounting, no precut tabs or holes to transfer the OE trim pieces. Overall it was a very involved installation procedure that could have been fixed with some simple modifications to the design. ...

We recently had the chance to install a BMW OEM GT4 lip here at IND. I can't post install photos yet since the new Portfolio build is under wraps at the moment. Fitment is perfect and we will have installed photos up soon. If this lip was not $4k + it would be the best on the M3 market. ...

We have heard this rumor before and BMW has yet to confirm it. However, BMWcoop is reporting that sources inside BMW claim the V6 twin turbo is a go. Why would BMW abandon the I6 after so long? Why the change that goes against all the talk of the N55 being the base for the next-gen M3? Why would BMW create a new motor architecture when they have set the precedent of using the same architecture now across multiple models? We don't know, it does not make any sense. 440 hp is also way, way too low. There are many conflicting reports, take it with a grain of salt until BMW refutes it (or confirms it). ...

Duke Dynamics has released their carbon fiber M3 V8 engine cover. This is just an aesthetic modification that has no impact on performance. It does add some bling under the hood and the option to add M3 stripes to it is a nice touch. If you are into looks, this may be your thing. No word on pricing yet, we will update when we get it. ...

BimmerBoost members GT3 and FR305 met up to do a few friendly runs. The 335 has a Jb 3 2.0, CP-E intercooler, downpipes, muffler delete, running map 9 with MS103 fuel. The GT3 runs an EVOMS E85 tune with catless europipe exhaust. It dyno's in the 410 whp range, enjoy the videos! ...

Hamann has released a new body kit for the E70 X5. This widebody consists of the usual, modified front and rear fascias as well as widened fenders. Widebody specific side skirts go with it. The interesting part is the tuning where Hamann flahses the car to 610 hp. With the full center sport exhaust pictured, raising power to 670 hp. The torque is raised to exactly 700 foot-pounds. Overall, the body kit is pretty nice but we just can't get used to that center style exhaust on the X5. Maybe in a different color with some different wheels... ...

ASR Engineering is no longer a supporting vendor at BimmerBoost. There are several reasons for this and this is being brought to your attention in order to prevent our members from incurring losses. There have been several issues with ASR that are simply inexcusable and we can no longer in good conscience endorse their business. The only reason ASR ever was a vendor here in the first place is due to a pre-existing arrangement with two members on the staff before this site came into existence. This arrangement was honored in good faith but simply, enough is enough, and the reasons why are below. ...

Evolve has released their S85 V10 software. We really like that they give both wheel and flywheel figures. The wheel figures read fairly close to what one should expect on a dynojet. DynoDynamics create a lot of issues in trying to compare numbers across various dynos. We have posted the CA Automotive software figures below to compare to the Evolve figures to illustrate what we mean. The vehicle was tested on 99 octane UK fuel from Shell. They also have it revving to 8800 rpm ( ! ) but plan to dial that down to 8400 as there is no power to be gained going up that high. Price is £850 ...

This car belongs to user bluejeansonfire. The car is an E46 330ci with an M54 that has been custom built. It features 8.5:1 wiseco pistons, eagle rods, and a JBR valvetrain including the heads, springs, and retainers. Schrick 252/256 cams are used with a hta3582r turbo feeding a 3.5 inch exhaust. It is nice to see a built M54 turbo application but this is only putting up slightly higher numbers than the Technique Tuning Stage 2 setup does on the stock internals. We look forward to seeing what this can do with the boost turned up! ...

Active Autowerke has released their X5M and X6M twin turbo V8 software. This is a flash tune available for either 91 or 93 octane. Active has provided a dyno showing nice gains through the curve. Do not just focus on the peak numbers as they do not tell the whole story. At 4400 rpm the gains are 86 whp. The torque gains through the curve are impressive. However, we do not know if the dyno was on 91 or 93 octane. We are guessing 93 was used and would like to see a separate dyno for each. The tune retails for $1500. ...

A man in France has been arrested after eventually ending his hostage stand-off at a BMW dealer. The 50 year old man was apparently angry at repeated problems with his car. He took a shotgun, barged into the dealership, and took a hostage in protest. He even started a fire in the dealership which apparently did not do any damage. This was not the first time the man had protested issues with his BMW, he had apparently previously attempted to light himself on fire outside the dealership. We are happy to report that no one was injured in this insanity. Get those high pressure fuel pump issues fixed BMW, you may be driving people crazy. ...
