Here we have a teaser video of a supercharged M156 V8 on he C63 AMG. There has been a lot of discussion of this not being possible and extremely difficult to excute. So far, it seems Weistec has been able to get the hardware down using a 2.3 liter twin screw supercharger. We do not know what boost they are running (likely somewhere in the 6-7 psi range if on pump) and we do not know the cost or even who is doing the tuning. More on this as it develops but we are glad to see this is being attempted and development is moving along. ...Published on 12-25-2010 04:23 PM
This M3 of mine continues to impress me. The S65 engine and DCT are just amazing! I think the DCT impresses me the most since it's been able to handle every bit of power that I throw at it without slipping.
The cold weather in the Southeast has enabled me to achieve some great 60-130 mph times this week. I'll start with the results of the ESS VT2-600 supercharger only run (no nitrous). 27F / full weight / 93 octane.

Well all know lighter wheels are a good thing. But just how big is the difference? Well, as a car makes more power the effect is easier to see. HPF took a Stage 4 and tested it with a wide set of 19's and then the stock 19 inch M3 wheels. The effect is magnified on a more powerful car and at one point in the graph there is an over 60 whp difference between the heavier wheels and the skinnier, lighter stock wheels. Check out the vid on the next page. ...by Published on 12-23-2010 11:19 PM
G-power is announcing that they have dropped the price of their SKII supercharger setup to 11,500 €. They are also offering a limited special offer until January 17, 2011 for 10,925 €. Our European members may be interested in this although as many remember G-power has blown a few S65 motors. They have claimed to fix their tune and we would only recommend this kit for members in Europe who have access to higher octane fuel than those in United States, namely California. ...Published on 12-23-2010 03:55 PM
Piecha Design is a German tuner who specializes in Mercedes Benz applications. Pretty much the usual with wheels, front lip, diffuser, spoiler, and side skirts. The side skirts have a pretty tacky LED option which is a little too ricey for us. They also have an exhaust system as well as a module that raises the response time of the convertible top which is a nice touch. Pricing compared to other tuners is fairly reasonable, it is as follows: ...Published on 12-23-2010 12:40 AM
We all know the M275 V12 makes for a great tuning platform. However, not too many Maybach owners we would think opt for dyno tuning. OE Tuning recently had a customer with a Matte Black Maybach 57 come in for a dyno tune. The gains with just a tune only were 109 whp and 136 torque. Impressive? We would say so. We also would be the kind of crazy people who would take this thing to the strip and have our chaffeur rip off 12 second passes while we sipped on a '96 Krug in the back seat and waved. ...Published on 12-22-2010 01:31 PM
This video was sent to us anonymously. The reason for that is Shiv@Vishnu had seen the video and told the owner not to post it and the owner did not for fear of being punished, lack of support, etc. We happened to get this video which shows a V5 automatic misfiring even after the voluntary harness update and several times of cleared adaptations. ...Published on 12-22-2010 01:14 AM
Wheelsandmore.de has released their tuning program for the Mercedes SLS. We really like their offering as they address all the areas of the car. They have suspension, brake, exhaust, wheel, interior, and engine upgrades available. None of it is cheap however as the German tuner is asking for quite a bit of cash. The wheels are 8,000 euros for a set for example. Click Read more to see the parts and pricing. ...Published on 12-21-2010 05:34 PM
Carlsson has released their take on the new CLS. Overall, we must say we are impressed as the styling looks great. Their body kit includes a front bumper and lip, hood, grille, sideskirts, and rear apron. 20 inch wheels complete the look and the car is obviously lowered. In addition to the styling changes Carlsson offers performance tunes for the diesel models in Europe as well as the 350 V6. Well done Carlsson, well done. ...Published on 12-21-2010 03:56 AM
BMW continues their habit of comparing the E82 1M Coupe to the E30 M3. They continue pulling at heart strings trying to illicit feelings of nostalgia as the E82 1M Coupe is not the spiritual successor to the E30 M3, no matter how hard they try to market otherwise. Enjoy the footage... ...Published on 12-20-2010 10:49 PM
This is just a prototype, so don't get too excited. A dozen Mercedes apprentice engineers from the Rastatt facility decided to swap the big V8 into the B-class for fun. They started with a B200 CDI and took a naturally aspirated 5.5 liter V8 from the 550 models and swapped it in along with a 7 speed auto transmission. They also made it rwd using an E430 diff and axles. It took them 8 months to do this and we say it was 8 months well spent. How cool would it be to get paid to work on a project like this? ...Published on 12-19-2010 10:06 PM
The winter driving season is among us and many of us have RWD BMW's that can be a handful if driven improperly in the snow. One needs to be careful and make sure they have the proper tires. It probably is a good idea to know the car is RWD as well and not leave it in gear while trying to push it along like this lady did. An automatic Audi is no doubt in her future. ...Published on 12-19-2010 09:39 PM
Kicherer has released their tuning program for the Mercedes SLS. They do the typical body addon's with a front lip and rear diffuser in carbon. They also have carbon accents for the interior. In addition, they claim their tune bumps the car up to 610 hp. We are not clear on if this figure is including their exhaust or not. The wheels are also unique to Kicherer. Another interesting part is that the car is lowered on a suspension system that will raise the car 30 millimeters at the touch of a button. Probably comes in handy with that lip. Enjoy the pictures: ...Published on 12-19-2010 09:15 PM
BMW has released a new video honoring 25 years of the M3. It is a bit of a history lesson giving a quick overview of the E30 M3 and the origins. Well worth watching and it makes you want an E30 M3. ...Published on 12-19-2010 02:00 PM
This offer only goes until December 31, 2010 but if you have been waiting for purchase a Dinan stroker motor for your E60 M5 or E63 M6 now is the time. The stroker price has consistently come down since it was offered at $40k and now can be purchased for $30,999. In addition to the motor, Dinan is offering their high flow air mass meter/intake assemblies, underdrive pulley, exhaust, throttle bodies, and Stage 3 suspension system. Total value of the parts is about $10k and many would argue these parts should have been included for the price from the beginning (except for the suspension). This makes the stroker a far more attractive proposition. Contact Dinan if interested. ...Published on 12-18-2010 05:52 PM
Quite a few of this style of M3 comes through our doors, but with regard to publicity and attention the “sleeper” is a rare sight, which is actually just how the owners of such M3s would prefer it. We don’t take photos of some of these jobs, but I think everyone can appreciate an M3 that’s this discreet.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is where Mercedes-Benz begins bitch slapping BMW across the performance sphere. While BMW is busy playing around with efficient dynamics Mercedes has just upped the ante confirming with Insideline that they intend to put the twin turbo 5.5 liter M157 twin turbo V8 into the C63 Black Series coupe. Mercedes is not playing around, this car will quite simply annihilate the M3. It is likely the M5 will be its victim as well and anything else in the BMW lineup. Mercedes does not hold back its cars to maintain an artificial hierarchy and with the black series label is producing some of the best performing and most hardcore German performance vehicles in existence. AMG just made a lot of people over at BMW very nervous, well done Mercedes, you have earned our respect and then some. ...Published on 12-17-2010 10:01 AM
Mercedes will be producing an electric version of the SLS for 2013. This is the future gentlemen, electric cars. Maybe it isn't all a bad thing as the car produces 650 pound-feet of torque. It needs it, as it weighs 881 pounds more than the gasoline version. ...Published on 12-17-2010 06:57 AM
The Top Gear BBC site has put up the series 13, episode 3 video of where they pit a W212 E63 AMG vs. a Camaro SS. Not exactly two cars you think of in the same class but two heavy cars with big V8's. Top Gear was quite enamored with the Benz, not quite so much with the Camaro. We certainly see a bit of what they mean, although we are talking about a car that is basically double the price of the other. Check out the Video on Top Gear's Site. ...Published on 12-17-2010 06:42 AM
BenzInsider is reporting that Mercedes has announced through its AMG division it intends to build a rival to the Audi RS3 and BMW 1M Coupe based on the A-Class. We have not seen an announcement from Mercedes confirming this so take it as a rumor for now. However, what is presented is quite interesting with a 320 hp A-Class AMG hatchback to go toe to toe. We say bring it on, and if it looks as good as the rendering and performs as well as the competition it will be a hit. ...
