Audi teams take 1-2 finish in the GT class at the Daytona 24 Hours beating out the Ferraris and Porsches - Timelapse video

Congratulations to the Audi customer GT teams which ran at this past weekends 24 Hours of Daytona. The Alex Job Racing team took the overall GT victory and team APR Motorsport came in second. Both teams running Audi R8 Grand AM cars which use a motor derived from the factory R8 5.2 V10 FSI. The third Audi team, Rum Bum Racing, was also in the hunt making up tremendous ground after a stop-and-go and time penalty but they ran out of fuel on the last lap forcing the car to coast in.


Overall, the Audi's were fairly dominant and all three of the mentioned teams held the lead at some point. Romolo Liebchen (head of Audi Sport customer racing) stated, “We achieved this dream result at what was only our second attempt at Daytona. With that, the R8 GRAND-AM in the United States is continuing the string of successes of its GT3 sister model that has clinched a total of five overall victories at European 24-hour races in the past two years.”

This marks the first 24 Hour Endurance victory for Audi on US soil.
